About The Varsity Center
Who We Are
We are a performance art venue and event center in downtown Carbondale, Illinois. Our building, the former location of the historic Varsity movie theater, is currently undergoing re-branding and renovation. At present, we have two of our three performance spaces up and running, including the newest: The Balcony Stage, a 137-seat listening room and small performance area with state-of-the art light and sound. In 2017, through community support, we were able to equip both of our functioning performance spaces with film screening equipment. Bringing movies back to The Varsity was a big step in our revitalization efforts.
The Varsity Bar
Patrons can purchase local and other traditional and craft beers and wines, select cocktails, soda and other non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks.
